Gujranwala Electric Power Company Limited (GEPCO) plans to raise its share capital limit by 50 percent, according to a new proposal. The capital ceiling would rise from Rs. 50 billion to Rs. 75 billion.

This expansion would allow the company to issue a maximum of 7.5 billion shares, up from the current limit of five billion. Each share within this structure carries a stated value of Rs. 10.

The Cabinet Committee on Privatization issued a letter on 25 September to direct the company to make these changes. GEPCO must modify a section of its founding documents to formalise the adjustment.

Shareholders will consider the proposal at the 34th Extraordinary General Meeting on 22 October. The meeting also aims to approve the record of the previous annual general meeting held on 24 October 2025.

The company convened the meeting with less than 21 days' notice. The secretary of the Ministry of Energy’s Power Division was requested to authorise a representative to cast federal government votes.

The proposed increase does not require GEPCO to issue new shares or receive extra funds immediately.
