Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi told the Senate on 13 October that the federal government was not to blame for the breakdown of negotiations with Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI). Raja Nasir Abbas raised concerns regarding the failed discussions during his address to the upper house.
Terrorism served as the opening topic for the talks held at Parliament House. Asad Qaiser stated his readiness to work with the authorities during the proceedings.
The government advised PTI to coordinate with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial administration before finalizing any deal. Security matters required the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to join the negotiations for decision-making purposes, according to the government.
Six proposed changes were approved by the government, though a disagreement persisted over paragraph four. Opposition members noted that PTI leader Murad Saeed would provide a response to these proposals.
Authorities allowed a meeting with the founder of PTI to be recorded on the mobile phone of Barrister Gohar Ali Khan. The government agreed to the demands raised during that specific meeting with the PTI founder.
The opposition stated that the recording would take place on the following day. Officials invited the opposition party to participate in further talks.
