The Ministry of National Food Security and Research confirmed that Pakistan's overall fertilizer supply remains satisfactory for the Rabi 2026 to 2027 cropping season. National Food Security Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain chaired a Fertilizer Review Committee meeting on 20 October to assess the situation.

Hussain stated that the government is committed to maintaining sufficient stocks, preventing market exploitation, and supporting farmers. Urea consumption is projected to reach 3.596 million tonnes during the current season, up from 3.563 million tonnes in the previous period.

Total urea availability is estimated at 3.95 million tonnes, which includes 765,000 tonnes in opening stocks and 3.185 million tonnes of domestic production. Expected urea offtake stands at approximately 3.596 million tonnes.

Diammonium phosphate (DAP) offtake is projected at 838,000 tonnes, representing a 0.4 percent increase from the Rabi 2025 to 2026 season. Total DAP availability is estimated at 766,000 tonnes, leaving a deficit of 72,000 tonnes below the expected offtake.

Overall fertilizer offtake is expected to increase by 0.8 percent compared with the previous Rabi season.
