Lahore Safari Park has launched the country's inaugural giraffe café as part of a major renovation project for the facility. Guests at the café can drink tea or coffee while feeding the giraffes by hand in close proximity.
Zainab Ali said that drinking coffee and feeding the animals by hand while sitting near the giraffes would be a unique experience. The park currently houses 10 giraffes, consisting of eight females and two males.
These animals arrived in Pakistan from South Africa on 1 September. Staff maintain the temperature in the housing blocks at 25 degrees Celsius.
Dr Warda Gul stated that giraffes are social animals that prefer to live in groups and can gradually adapt to their surroundings and become accustomed to human presence. The animals receive a balanced diet of minerals, green fodder, and other essential nutrients.
Dr Warda Gul noted that the growth and development of all the giraffes at the park were satisfactory, with their height increasing rapidly. Park administration hopes the animals may eventually breed at the facility.
