The government will establish a Joint Investigation Team to probe the Mir Raza case following approval from the chief minister. Officials will formally contact the Federal Investigation Agency to coordinate the formation of the team.
A subcommittee of the Sindh Cabinet reviewed a seven-volume report on the case and briefed the chief minister on the findings. Zulfiqar Larik will head a separate committee tasked with inquiring into the conduct of police officers during the incident.
The judicial commission submitted its report to the provincial chief minister on 15 October. The commission recommended a team led by DIG Irfan Baloch, though the constitutional court previously dismissed a petition by the affected family seeking a JIT.
Senior representatives from the Inter-Services Intelligence, Intelligence Bureau, Pakistan Rangers (Sindh), and the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency will comprise the team. The judicial commission described the police investigation as an "epic failure" and noted that the suicide hypothesis relied on unconfirmed text messages, selectively obtained video footage, and a preliminary post-mortem report.
The commission also highlighted contradictions between the first and second reports prepared by Dr Osama Shaikh.
