The Pakistan Cricket Board has synchronized the domestic cricket calendar with the pre-season schedule for the 12th edition of the Pakistan Super League. National T20 Gold and National T20 Silver tournaments will serve as the primary events for identifying new talent.
The HBL PSL 12 will feature 44 matches, including 40 league fixtures and four playoffs, spanning 46 days. Matches will be held across five to six venues for the first time in the league's history.
The tournament is scheduled to run from 18 March to 2 May 2027. A player auction for the 12th season is set for 23 January 2027.
Direct signings for the eight HBL Pakistan Super League franchises remain open until 23 November 2026. Each franchise is permitted to sign one marquee player who did not participate in either PSL 10 or PSL 11.
Franchises will attend a workshop next week to finalise auction regulations, playing conditions, retention deadlines, and the pre-auction trade window. Mohsin Naqvi, Chairman, said, "HBL PSL is Pakistan cricket’s biggest stage, and Season 12 will be its most ambitious yet. HBL PSL 11 ended before a record crowd, and we are building on that momentum by taking the league to more cities than ever before."
Salman Naseer stated, "For the first time, HBL PSL will go to five to six venues, bringing the league closer to fans across Pakistan and giving more cities the chance to host the best of T20 cricket." The league expanded to eight teams in 2026, adding the Hyderabad Kingsmen and Rawalpindiz.
Peshawar Zalmi secured their second title by defeating the Hyderabad Kingsmen in the final at Gaddafi Stadium. Stadium hosted a record crowd of 32,461 for that final.
