The Punjab Livestock and Dairy Development Department will begin distributing free cows and buffaloes to selected widowed and divorced women in South Punjab starting 21 October 2026. A total of 3,380 women are scheduled to receive livestock under this initiative, according to the Punjab Information Technology Board.
The Punjab government used electronic balloting on 14 October 2026 to select participants for the second phase of the Chief Minister’s Livestock Asset Transfer Scheme. Rs3 billion is the estimated budget allocated for this second phase of the program.
Eligibility requires applicants to be 55 years old or younger and possess a valid CNIC and a mobile SIM registered in their own name. Women who have received livestock through any government scheme in the last five years are ineligible to participate.
The program covers 13 districts in South Punjab, including Multan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Layyah, Lodhran, Khanewal, and Vehari. Previous applicants can verify their selection status via the official Livestock Asset Transfer Portal.
