The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) released its Medical and Dental Admission Policy 2026 to regulate educational standards. Medical colleges will be fined Rs500,000 for failing to issue merit lists on time.

An additional charge of Rs50,000 will apply for every day a college remains in delay regarding those lists. Institutions that exceed their allocated student capacity will pay a penalty equal to the annual tuition fee for every extra student admitted.

The council may also halve the number of seats available to such colleges during the next admission cycle. Registration delays will incur a fine of Rs50,000 per student, while late reporting of graduation will cost Rs75,000.

Submitting annual examination results late will result in a Rs30,000 fine, and reporting student transfers or withdrawals late will cost Rs100,000. Violations concerning other charges or fees will attract a Rs200,000 penalty.

Online reporting is now mandatory for students, universities, and medical or dental colleges. All required documents must be uploaded through the official online portal designated by the council.

A full licence now requires a minimum one-year house job. Teaching hospitals are required to send house job completion certificates to the PMDC within 10 days of the job's end.

The council will issue a notice to institutions and allow them to present their case before any fine is applied. Repeated breaches of these rules could lead to legal action or restrictions on future admissions.
