Peter Chan Ho-sun will likely incorporate artificial intelligence into his filmmaking process but intends to avoid using AI-generated content. The director believes that two-hour feature films will maintain their position against the growing popularity of vertical dramas and short-form content.

Chan recently premiered The Road Not Taken in Toronto, a story exploring a fractured family dealing with divorce and early-onset Alzheimer’s. The filmmaker co-founded the United Filmmakers Organization and established Applause Pictures, which produced 10 films in 2.5 years.

Pictures released the Three horror omnibus films and the Eye franchise, while Chan also executive produced One Fine Spring Day for Hur Jin-ho. Chan identifies The Warlords as his most significant film and notes that 90% of people remember him for Comrades, which will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2026.

He left Hong Kong on 24 December 1996. "Dealing with a corporate is very, very difficult. And if I can survive that, I can survive anything," Chan said.

Regarding production issues, he stated, "I don’t usually fix it for them. I make them fix it over and over and over and over again."
