OpenAI upgrades ChatGPT Chrome extension to access open browser tabs

OpenAI is updating its Google Chrome extension to enable the AI to interact with open browser tabs. The company removed the ChatGPT Atlas browser as part of these changes.
Users can grant the tool access to their tabs by tagging Chrome within the web or desktop applications, according to OpenAI. A sidebar update now provides full conversation history for users of Chat or Work.
ChatGPT Work can perform actions such as sending messages, completing forms, and downloading files across different tabs. The software also possesses the ability to group or organise open windows.
These features mirror the auto browse capabilities powered by Google’s Gemini.
