Muhammad Aurangzeb served as First Vice-Chair of the G-24 during a meeting of Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors in Bangkok, Thailand, on the sidelines of the World Bank Group–IMF Annual Meetings 2026. Pakistan is set to become the next Chair of the G-24.

Aurangzeb identified three main priorities for the group, starting with restoring development as the primary goal of the international financial system. The second priority involves making Bretton Woods institutions more responsive and representative, while the third focuses on constructing a development-oriented international financial architecture.

He argued that reforms to the global financial structure must keep pace with challenges including fragmentation, climate shocks, and restrictive financial conditions. During a World Bank roundtable on transforming demographic transitions into human capital gains and job creation, Aurangzeb spoke about Pakistan's plans to establish a National Population Council led by the prime minister.

Pakistan views digital skills, IT-enabled services, and freelancing as key avenues to increase exports and youth earnings.
