Asifa Bhutto Zardari marks 19th anniversary of Karsaz tragedy

Asifa Bhutto Zardari marked the 19th anniversary of the Karsaz tragedy on 18 October, recalling the day hundreds of thousands of Pakistanis gathered in Karachi to welcome her mother, Benazir Bhutto, home from exile. Terrorists killed more than 180 innocent people during the attack, while hundreds of others sustained injuries.
Benazir Bhutto died 70 days after surviving the Karsaz incident. Addressing the nation's youth, Zardari called on young women and men to question those preaching intolerance and reject those glorifying terrorism.
She warned against allowing social media to become a vehicle for poisonous propaganda, incitement and the recruitment of young minds into extremism. Zardari stated that the answer to extremism is not hatred in return, but rather courage, education, opportunity, justice and an unwavering commitment to peaceful coexistence.
"Question those who preach intolerance. Reject those who glorify terrorism. Do not allow social media to become a vehicle for poisonous propaganda, incitement and the recruitment of young minds into extremism."
