Police arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MNA Maulana Syed Naseem Ali Shah from Jamia Markaz-ul-Islami in the Ghoriwala area of Bannu on Monday. Authorities issued a 30-day detention order for the lawmaker on 19 October under the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance.
The detention order specifies that Shah was involved in anti-state activities and actively encouraged local residents to join illegal protests. According to the order, Shah's actions included obstructing official duties and blocking public roads.
The deputy commissioner stated that the presence of Shah could pose a serious threat to public safety and lead to a breach of public peace and order. Officials directed the superintendent of Central Jail Haripur to keep the lawmaker in custody.
The order was forwarded to the commissioner of Bannu Division, the additional chief secretary of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Home and Tribal Affairs Department, and regional police officers of the Bannu and Hazara divisions. Police officers in charge of Bannu and Haripur also received the detention order.
