The National Highway Authority will develop four infrastructure projects using a public-private partnership model, according to an agreement reached in Islamabad. Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan chaired the meeting where the decision was finalised.
One of the planned works involves a 169-kilometer stretch of the M-10 Motorway. A second project focuses on a route connecting Chilas, Jalkhad, Naran, and Mansehra to the Chinese border.
The Guru Nanak Expressway, designed for Sikh pilgrims, constitutes a third project in the list. Participants also discussed the possibility of extending the Murree Expressway to Kashmir.
Abdul Aleem Khan instructed National Highway Authority officials to draft a business plan for these proposed developments. The minister emphasised that the authority must improve its financial independence.
Muhammad Ali, the prime minister’s adviser on privatization, pledged his cooperation during the session. Officials committed to finishing preliminary work on the proposals within one week.
A follow-up meeting will be scheduled to evaluate the progress of these plans.
