Hafiz Naeem addressed thousands of participants at a Gaza March organised by the Jamaat-e-Islami on Sunday. The JI leader asserted that Palestine must be the foremost priority of any defence pact.
He further stated that the initial aim of such a defence arrangement should focus on halting Israeli aggression against Palestinians, especially those residing in Gaza. The Muslim Ummah, according to Hafiz Naeem, must unite to support the oppressed populations of Palestine and Kashmir.
The Jamaat-e-Islami confirmed it will observe the first week of October in solidarity with the people of Gaza and Palestine. Moreover, the JI plans to reveal its future strategy following the date of 7 October.
The Israeli bombardment of Gaza continued despite a ceasefire, resulting in the destruction of large areas within the territory. Reports indicate that Palestinians, including children, are facing targeting in the West Bank.
The October 7, 2023 Hamas attack challenged Israel's military strength. Hamas's struggle, the JI leader claimed, constitutes legitimate resistance.
The JI leader also suggested that Hamas played a significant role in ceasefire negotiations. Intensified efforts for the freedom of Al-Aqsa Mosque were called for by Hafiz Naeem.
The resistance shown by Palestinians demonstrated that determination and courage can challenge technologically superior forces. Muslim governments and armies bear a responsibility to prevent further bloodshed in Palestine.
The situation in Gaza highlighted the necessity for greater unity among Islamic movements. The JI leader stated that the party and its charitable organisation Alkhidmat sent relief worth 10 billion Rs to Palestinians.
