Donald Trump will not sign a document imposing additional measures on Russia for the time being. The administration has postponed the implementation of new tariffs and sanctions aimed at Moscow and nations purchasing Russian energy.

Trump stated that imposing further measures on Russia could undermine negotiations to end the war in Ukraine. The president noted he could sign the document at a later date or any time he wanted.

Congress previously approved measures including sanctions against Russian officials, banks, and energy traders. These approved measures include the possibility of steep tariffs on countries that continue to import Russian oil and gas.

Trump said, "I want this war to end!" The president claimed that Volodymyr Zelenskyy could have secured a better agreement two years earlier.

According to Trump, Ukraine was now in ruins, had lost a large amount of territory and had suffered heavy casualties. Trump alleged that Zelenskyy is targeting Russian diesel facilities despite knowing that the attacks are seriously hurting the world diesel markets, including in the US.

He added that Russia was continuing to supply millions of barrels of diesel to international markets at low prices. Trump said, "Zelenskyy doesn’t care."

Washington decided to authorise imports of Russian diesel. Trump stated that Russia is doing very little, if anything, to help the Islamic Republic of Iran, compared to what they could be doing, and I want to keep it that way.
