France imposes curfews and movement restrictions across several major cities

French authorities introduced curfews across parts of central Paris and the Les Halles shopping area overnight. Movement restrictions for gatherings and young people were also implemented in Marseille, Bordeaux, Nice, Lyon, and Lille.
Sébastien Lecornu stated that decisions regarding further curfews for Tuesday night would depend on where they are necessary "on the ground." Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez offered his resignation on Monday after claiming that police had "lost control" in some cities.
President Emmanuel Macron rejected the resignation of Nuñez. More than 2,500 people have been arrested since the disorder began last month when students first started protesting for better school conditions.
About 1,000 police officers were injured during the unrest, which included an incident where a demonstrator's hand was blown off by a police crowd-control grenade.
