Turkey calls for reunification of rival Libyan administrations

Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that the time had come to reunify Libya's rival eastern and western administrations. Fidan said, "We have now reached a stage where the conditions are ripe to permanently secure the reunification of the east and the west."
The Foreign Minister noted that both sides possess military structures that must be integrated into a national army. Militaries from both sides could eventually operate under a unified command.
Turkey has historically supported the UN-recognised government in Tripoli. Libya's eastern-based parliament approved a maritime demarcation deal with Turkey on 20 October.
