Microsoft Xbox COO Helen Chiang departs company after 21 years

Helen Chiang is leaving Microsoft today after a career spanning 21 years with the firm. Chiang previously served as the head of Minecraft before her recent promotion to Xbox chief operating officer in July.
Asha Sharma, to whom Chiang reported directly, said, "Helen Chiang is leaving Microsoft today. I’m grateful for her years of service and wish her well." The chief operating officer position was established as part of a significant "reset" for Xbox.
Sharma noted that the role carries end-to-end P&L responsibility across content, hardware, platform, and services. Other Xbox leaders are currently splitting Chiang's immediate responsibilities while a permanent transition plan is finalised.
Kari Perez stated, "We don’t discuss individual personnel matters," but added, "We’re grateful for Helen’s years of service and wish her well."
