Pakistan Telecommunication Authority monitors 166 mobile sites to improve network quality

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority monitored 166 mobile sites between 15 October and 22 October to assess network performance. Officials identified several problems regarding internet quality, voice services, and general mobile coverage during the inspection.
Telecom operators received instructions to rectify these technical issues within the designated period. Twelve zonal offices conducted the monitoring activities across various regions.
The inspections covered Karachi, Quetta, Jacobabad, Khairpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Kasur, Pattoki, Kot Radha Kishan, Nowshera Virkan, Torghar, Faisalabad, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Aseefa Bhutto Zardari claimed that neither 4G nor 5G services functioned correctly in Nawabshah.
Sabeen Ghauri, Parliamentary Secretary for IT, stated that 5G is currently available in 24 cities. Ghauri noted that the nationwide expansion of 5G technology might take another two years.
Data from the second quarter of 2026 showed 4G users reached average download speeds of 18.9 Mbps. Users spent 3.95 percent of their connected time on 5G networks.
