PTI rejects suspension of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government over security claims

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rejected the suspension of its provincial government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which federal authorities enacted in October 2026. Federal authorities stated that security concerns provided the justification for removing the PTI administration from power.
The PTI party maintains that the suspension is a politically motivated action rather than a necessary security measure. Imran Khan has remained in prison since 2023 while his party faces these administrative challenges.
Historical precedents of resistance include PPP workers and other opposition activists who opposed the Zia dictatorship. Opposition activists also previously joined the Movement for the Restoration of Democracy to challenge the ruling order.
