Aymen Saleem joined the Pakistan People’s Party during a press conference held in Karachi. The former actress stated, "Since my childhood, I’ve been a big fan of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. Every girl who has seen her journey is definitely impressed by her. I’m very happy and proud to be a part of the Pakistan Peoples Party."

Saleem highlighted that Benazir Bhutto became the Muslim world's first elected female leader at age 35. She noted that the former Prime Minister endured exile, prison, and threats, yet returned home because her people were more important than her safety.

Saleem described her transition into politics as a personal commitment rather than a political choice, saying, "I would like to say that this is not a political decision for me, personally. This is a promise for me." Her father, Saleem Yousuf, represented Pakistan for over a decade.

Prior to her political involvement, Saleem worked in consulting and investment banking in New York. She previously declared in 2021 that she would stop acting.
