The road connecting Rawal Dam Chowk and Kashmir Chowk will remain closed starting 15 October until further notice. The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) released a detailed traffic diversion plan to manage the closure.
Motorists heading from G-5, the Secretariat and Serena Hotel toward Rawalpindi should use Ninth Avenue and Srinagar Highway instead. Drivers can also travel via Srinagar Highway to reach Mehrabad and Peshawar Road, or take a U-turn at Lake View to access Club Road or Murree Road.
For those traveling toward Rawal Dam Chowk, Park Road and Lehtrar Road, the ITP recommends using Srinagar Highway, Seventh Avenue, Shakarparian Road, Tulip Hotel Road and Rawal Dam Road. People going to Murree and Bhara Kahu via Faizabad are advised to use Faisal Avenue, Zero Point, the Srinagar Highway underpass, Jinnah Square and Kondriyan Wala Chowk.
Commuters moving from Rawalpindi to Islamabad should utilize Ninth Avenue, Faqir Aipee Road and Srinagar Highway. Travelers coming from Park Road and Lehtrar Road toward Islamabad are directed to use Tulip Hotel Road, Garden Avenue, Shakarparian Road and Seventh Avenue.
Traffic flow on major roads may be affected by these diversions, prompting the ITP to advise citizens to allow an additional 20 to 25 minutes for their journeys. Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Islamabad Kainat stated that ITP officers would remain deployed at different locations to guide motorists and ensure smooth traffic movement.
Kainat advised citizens to follow traffic instructions and use the recommended alternative routes to avoid delays.
