The Islamabad High Court directed authorities to strike a citizen’s name from the Passport Control List. Justice Muhammad Azam Khan voiced his dissatisfaction regarding the failure of officials to carry out a previous court order.
Authorities must complete the implementation of the ruling by 26 October. Contempt of court proceedings will begin on 27 October if the order remains unfulfilled.
State counsel noted that intelligence agency reports were available in a related case. Justice Azam Khan stated that the court's order had to be executed regardless of any reports submitted by intelligence agencies or other authorities, unless an appeal was filed.
The judge further clarified that the court would not provide relief to any individual involved in anti-state activities. Officials from the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports confirmed that a review committee meeting was scheduled for the previous week.
Passport and immigration officials offered an unconditional apology for the delay. The officials claimed that committees did not review or override the judicial orders and admitted there was room for improvement in handling the matter.
