Director General Ahmad Usman Javaid confirmed that these orchards were created at Bagh-e-Jinnah, Kaleem Shaheed Park, and Dhobi Ghat Park in Faisalabad. The district horticulture agency identified 795 trees for transplantation to accommodate infrastructure work.
Of those identified, 352 trees have been moved, while work continues on the remaining 443. Bagh-e-Jinnah received 166 trees, while Dhobi Ghat Park took in 127 and Kaleem Shaheed Park received 59.
The PHA introduced the Public Parks, Greenbelts, and Green Areas Protection & Regulated Emergency Transplantation Regulations, 2026, in March. Under these rules, developers must plant at least 20 saplings for every tree cut down if removal is unavoidable.
This requirement increases to 50 saplings if a transplanted tree dies. Replacement trees must be native, climate-resilient species that are maintained for a minimum of three years.
Major development projects that might impact existing trees now require a mandatory Arboricultural Impact Assessment. Ahmad Usman Javaid stated that all 21 district horticulture agencies under the PHA must comply with these same rules.
The PHA has also finished its annual monsoon plantation drive.
