Islamabad High Court reserves verdict on federal government's intra-court appeal

A division bench led by Justice Khadim Soomro and Justice Umair Majid Malik reserved its verdict on the federal government’s intra-court appeal. The legal challenge addresses a single bench ruling regarding the role of intelligence reports in appointing trade and investment officers at Pakistani embassies abroad.
Counsel for Kashif Malik argued that no allegations were made against his client during the proceedings. The legal team claimed the proceedings were started to benefit a different candidate.
Rashid Hafeez stated that even a candidate declared medically unfit would have their appointment cancelled. Hafeez further noted that the primary duty of trade and investment officers is to draw investment into Pakistan.
The Establishment Division made these appointments conditional on reports provided by intelligence agencies, according to Hafeez.
