Pakistani freelancers generated $197 million in export receipts during September 2026, marking the highest monthly amount in the nation's history. Earnings for the month increased by 11 percent compared to August and rose by 49 percent over the same month in 2025.
The first quarter of fiscal year 2026-27 saw total earnings reach approximately $550 million, a 46 percent increase from the previous year's corresponding period. Freelancers brought in a combined $352 million across July and August, with July specifically contributing $175.44 million.
IT exports reached $435 million in September, representing the second-highest monthly level on record. The total freelance earnings for fiscal year 2025-26 amounted to $1.76 billion.
Ibrahim Amin, Chairman of the Pakistan Freelancers Association (PAFLA), claimed that more Pakistani digital workers are entering the global freelancing market. Amin also noted that many IT graduates and professionals are choosing freelancing because domestic job openings remain limited.
The PAFLA Chairman suggested that increased investment in skills development and training could strengthen Pakistan's position in the global digital economy.
