President Asif Ali Zardari will travel to the Federal Republic of Germany from 22 to 24 October. The head of state plans to meet with the German President and various senior and business leaders.

These discussions will focus on bilateral relations with a specific emphasis on economic and trade cooperation. This high-level exchange occurs as Pakistan and Germany commemorate 75 years of diplomatic relations this year.

President Zardari is scheduled to hold meetings with Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah might accompany the president on the trip.

Shah previously discussed the visit with German Consul General Thomas E. Schultze. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul in September.

The German foreign office stated that Germany appreciated Pakistan’s mediation efforts in regional conflicts, especially in the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab. The German foreign office also noted that Pakistan and Germany agreed to "get negotiations on peace for Ukraine going".

A German delegation announced plans in June to bring about 30 German companies to Pakistan to link local businesses to European markets. The Foreign Office highlighted the "deep commitment of both countries to further strengthening the partnership".
