Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is scheduled to formally inaugurate the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) on 28 October. The opening ceremony will take place at the Banth Interchange on the GT Road.

Construction workers have finished the 38.3-kilometre main route of the project. Four specific interchanges, including those at Chak Beli Khan, Adiala, Chakri, and Banth, are now complete.

Authorities expect to finish installing the tolling booth system before the official launch. The Punjab Ring Road Authority (PRRA) has taken over the tolling system.

Under the One Network company arrangement, the PRRA will manage the operation and maintenance of the road. The final interchange at Thalian is slated for completion at a later date.

Currently, the ring road links to the motorway route at Thalian without a dedicated interchange. The Punjab Development Working Party (PDWP) approved the third revised PC-I for this initiative.

Valued at Rs50.4 billion, the project's PC-I covers the construction costs for the Thalian broad-based interchange.
