A film depicting Sam Altman's ascent and subsequent removal from OpenAI premiered at the New York Film Festival. The movie opens with a visual of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge.

Andrew Garfield portrays Sam Altman in the production. Yura Borisov plays Ilya Sutskever, while Ike Barinholtz portrays Elon Musk.

Monica Barbaro takes on the role of Mira Murati, and Mark Rylance plays Geoffrey Hinton. The narrative covers OpenAI releasing ChatGPT in November 2022 without prior notification to the board.

The film also addresses allegations that Altman misrepresented whether the legal team advised a model could bypass certain safety protocols. Further plot points include Altman reportedly appealing to Satya Nadella for support following his dismissal.

The script shows Altman demanding that the board resign immediately upon his return. Information regarding Altman's tenure at Y Combinator was reportedly supplied by Murati to Ilya Sutskever.

Previously, OpenAI's system achieved a victory in a game of Dota 2 against a human champion in 2017. Sutskever and Hinton joined Google in March 2013.

The state of technology was valued at upwards of 40 million USD, which Google purchased by the close of 2012. Paul Graham stated, "You could parachute him into an island full of cannibals and come back in 5 years and he’d be the king."

Sutskever remarked, "What if we made it exactly like we are, but worse?"
