The Punjab government committed to establishing catheterization laboratories (cath labs) and cardiology centres in every district hospital across the province. Currently, the cath labs have facilitated 7,294 successful cardiac procedures across six districts of Punjab.
These procedures included 4,448 instances where patients underwent angiography. Furthermore, 2,763 patients received angioplasty procedures at these facilities.
At the District Headquarters Hospital Kasur, two patients received temporary pacemakers at the cath lab. Authorities plan to establish cath labs in eight districts by November.
Moreover, the government intends to set up cath labs in seven additional districts by February. The plan also involves establishing state-of-the-art cardiac centres in every division of Punjab.
Heart patients will receive free stents, bypass surgeries, and medicines. Additionally, free screening for blood pressure and diabetes is available through field hospitals and Clinics on Wheels.
