Ali Pervaiz Malik met with Libyan Minister of Oil and Gas Khalifa Rajab Abdulsadek to discuss bilateral cooperation in the oil and gas sector. Malik encouraged Pakistani refineries to investigate importing crude oil from Libya.

Khalifa Rajab Abdulsadek stated he would urge Libya's national oil company to provide larger volumes of crude oil to Pakistani firms. Libya also expressed interest in learning from Pakistan’s experience regarding refinery upgrades as the country plans its own facility improvements.

During a breakfast meeting, Malik spoke with Qatari Energy Minister Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi to explore cooperation in the liquefied natural gas sector. Pakistan aims to maintain alternative supply options if disruptions occur at the Bab al-Mandab Strait or the Strait of Hormuz.

The country navigated a global energy supply shock in 2026 without rationing major sources, aided by cooperation from Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait. Pakistan is currently working to strengthen long-term energy security through a bonded reserves scheme and strategic reserves.

Malik attended the meeting at the invitation of Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, following instructions from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir. Pakistan stands shoulder to shoulder with Saudi Arabia during its current difficulties.

"Pakistan strongly condemns the terrorist attacks by the Houthi militia on Saudi soil," Malik said. Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar intends to visit Pakistan next month to receive the Turkish Petroleum Corporation’s seismic vessel.

The TPAO seismic vessel is expected to begin data acquisition in the Indus Basin.

"Pakistan strongly condemns the terrorist attacks by the Houthi militia on Saudi soil," said Ali Pervaiz Malik.
