President Donald Trump issued an executive order declaring that the technology will no longer be referred to as “artificial” intelligence. Trump stated the new designation for the technology is “super” intelligence.
The administration now classifies anyone who continues to use the term “artificial intelligence” instead of “super intelligence” as “THE ENEMY”. Nick Bostrom predicted that super intelligence would develop alongside a class of humans who possess significantly higher intelligence than their peers.
Bostrom suggested that these new super humans will rule over their inferiors, while super intelligence rules over everyone. In the United States, unregulated AI companies are encouraging businesses to replace humans with AI.
China's regulations aim to prevent AI from worsening youth unemployment while beating the rest of the world to AI supremacy, Palmer said. Chen Qiufan explained that there is no single, great God in Chinese thought.
Qiufan said, "The deepest fear is less about machines enslaving humanity and more about missing another industrial revolution." Chen noted that while Americans ask AI theological questions about who will save or judge them, Chinese people ask historical questions about whether they will be on time this round.
Chinese audiences are obsessed with “system novels” (系统文), in which a protagonist somehow gets an AI-like system installed in their brain. Qiufan described the concept as "half guardian spirit, half [key performance indicator] manager, and its whole purpose is to help an ordinary person level up and climb."
Chen also described a god as "a powerful neighbour with a job description".
