Donald Trump called for the immediate resignation of Ilhan Omar from Congress, alleging she used a false name when she was sworn into office. Trump stated that Omar's real name was Ilhan Nur Said Elmi and claimed she openly admitted to fraud.

The former president said, "Because she used a fake name to be sworn in, I assume she must IMMEDIATELY resign from Congress." He also urged House Speaker Mike Johnson to acknowledge that Omar's congressional seat has been vacated.

A spokesperson for the congresswoman denied the allegations, stating, "This is completely false. Ilhan Omar is her real name." Federal agents searched Omar's home on 12 October to investigate potential false statements in her immigration and citizenship records.

Omar became a US citizen in 2000. No court has established that Omar used a fraudulent identity, and the legal filing did not prove she committed fraud.

Prosecutors did not provide an explanation for why an alternative name was used.
