Punjab Health Minister inspects Sahiwal cardiology institute and cancer sites

Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique visited the Sahiwal Institute of Cardiology on 14 October to review medical services. Health Secretary Azmat Mahmood and Sahiwal Commissioner Dr. Asif Tufail accompanied the minister during the inspection.
The institute performed more than 276 cardiac surgeries, including 261 bypass operations. Medical staff at the facility conducted 2,660 angiographies and 1,119 angioplasties.
Emergency services were provided to 18,412 patients, while the institute offered outpatient care to 68,976 individuals. Rafique also inspected proposed locations for a cancer treatment centre at Haji Abdul Qayyum Hospital and Sahiwal Teaching Hospital.
Rafique stated that a modern cancer hospital would be established in Sahiwal under the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. Azmat Mahmood said the new facility would spare patients the cost and inconvenience of travelling to major cities for treatment.
