Canva launched an image generation model named Canva Craft that employs a two-stage architecture to plan a design before producing an image. Users can now generate images at resolutions up to 2K across more than 30 different aspect ratios.
Craft produces realistic scenes, digital art, and environmental imagery while supporting complex requests with legible text and specific object placement. Marketing content and social media posts are also supported by the new tool.
The platform previously introduced prompt-based editing in April and added layers to AI-generated images. Design Arena’s leaderboard ranks Canva Craft fourth, placing it behind OpenAI’s GPT-Image-2.5 Sunburst, GPT-Image-2.5 Flare, and GPT-Image-2.
Canva stated the tool includes "robust input and output moderation, privacy and safety controls, and reporting tools". Future plans involve releasing Craft-fast and Craft-ultrafast models, as well as allowing AI agents to connect via the open Model Context Protocol.
The service is currently available to all users worldwide.
