Lyari General Hospital has performed more than 100 robotic gynecological surgeries to date. Provincial Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho visited the facility to observe the medical progress.
Sindh Health Secretary Tahir Hussain Sangi attended a ceremony at the hospital to mark the milestone. "The launch of robotic surgery at Lyari General Hospital continues the Sindh government’s policy of introducing modern technology in the health sector," Sangi said.
Sangi added that the provincial government is also deploying robotic surgery and modern technology at other sites, including Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. Professor Dr. Anjum Rehman stated that this treatment method is actually 63 percent cheaper than traditional surgery.
The technology enables a surgeon to perform an operation while sitting in another country, according to Professor Dr. Sahar Fatima. Nadir Nabeel Gabol claimed the Sindh government has allocated 11 percent of GDP to the health sector, setting aside around Rs400 billion.
