Nvidia releases new GPU driver to enable Microsoft's Advanced Shader Delivery

Nvidia is releasing a new GPU driver, version 621.01, which enables Microsoft’s Advanced Shader Delivery technology. Advanced Shader Delivery accelerates game launches by removing the need for "just-in-time" shader compilation during gameplay.
The system reduces CPU spikes and stuttering by offloading shader compilation for various hardware combinations to the cloud. Games such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and Gears of War: E-Day already support this new delivery method.
Users must download games through the Xbox PC app to access Advanced Shader Delivery, which allows players to skip the shader compilation screen in Call of Duty. Burnes noted, "This system is storefront-agnostic, meaning you benefit even when playing games purchased on Steam, as long as the Xbox PC app is installed on your PC."
The technology also works on AMD GPUs running Adrenalin 26.6.1 or higher and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 series with driver version 2026.08.3 or higher.
