Donald Trump stated that technology executives reached an agreement to establish voluntary standards for artificial intelligence (AI) systems. This accord was signed by Trump and leaders from major AI companies on Tuesday. The agreement mandates that companies implement robust internal controls for their AI systems. Furthermore, the accord requires partnering with an independent external auditor to assess the technology. It also stipulates setting up a committee among each company's board of directors.

Mark Zuckerberg stated that the companies agreed to develop robust internal controls for their AI systems. Speaking on the matter, Trump remarked, “It's almost like a constitution, in a way.” Regarding the industry's self-governance, Trump stated, “I think I’m seeing tremendous self-policing . And they understand that they have to self-police.” The accord outlined four voluntary steps for the companies to undertake. In addition to safety measures, Trump directed government agencies to use the term super intelligence instead of artificial intelligence. He also suggested that about ten people would be named to a committee to oversee the entire enterprise.

Addressing concerns over data centres, Trump said executives agreed to assuage bipartisan opposition by providing financial support to local schools or reducing energy costs. Separately, Trump also mentioned that he is considering establishing a ten-person board to police AI safety. Dario Amodei noted that the technology presents very real risks.
