China's economic growth rebounds to 4.5% in third quarter
China's economy expanded by 4.5% year-on-year during the third quarter, according to data released by the Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Monday. The nation recorded a 4.6% growth rate for the period spanning January to September.
This performance aligns with the government's annual growth target of between 4.5% and 5.0%. Industrial output rose by 5.5% in September, while retail sales saw a modest increase of 1.1% during the same month.
A widening trade surplus in September exceeded analyst expectations. To support the economy, China tapped an 800 billion yuan policy-based financing tool and allocated 550 billion yuan ($82.28 billion) in unused government debt quotas.
Infrastructure investment fell by 4.2%, and fixed-asset investment dropped 7.2% over the first nine months. Property investment plummeted by 20.6% in September during the first nine months of the year.
The economy grew 1.2% in the third quarter.
