Pakistan committee reviews long-pending biosafety licenses for genetically modified corn
The National Biosafety Committee (NBC) met to evaluate applications regarding biosafety standards for agricultural products. During the session, the committee examined several overdue cases concerning technologies for Genetically Modified (GM) corn.
Earlier this year, the government gave its approval to the National Agricultural Biotechnology Policy. CropLofe Pakistan stated that reviewing and approving these pending GM corn licenses represents a significant achievement for the country's agricultural biotechnology.
Genetically modified corn has been used for commercial farming and cultivation across the globe for over two decades. Diesel prices rose by Rs1.64 while the government reduced petrol prices by Rs1.60 per litre.
