Pakistan Maritime Security Agency praises Cnergyico for oil spill response
The Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) formally commended Cnergyico Pakistan Limited (CPL) for its actions following an oil spill near Churna Island on 30 June. The leak occurred in the vicinity of offshore Single Point Mooring (SPM) facilities belonging to CPHGC and CPL.
Authorities identified the cause as bilge discharge from an unknown seagoing vessel passing through the area. On 14 October, the PMSA issued an official communication regarding the incident and the subsequent response.
Cnergyico deployed a dedicated Oil Spill Response Team along with specialized craft, equipment, oil dispersants, and trained personnel to manage the situation. These response resources remained active at the site for over 24 hours.
The company also provided assistance to CPHGC in clearing the affected maritime zone. The PMSA did not state the specific volume of oil discharged or provide an estimate of the environmental impact.
