Pakistan Railways bans air travel and government vehicles for officials

Pakistan Railways has prohibited all officials from using air travel for official purposes, effective immediately. No funds will be disbursed to staff under the air travel budget following this new directive.
The department also banned the use of government vehicles, requiring all officials to travel by rail for work-related tours. Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi ordered the imposition of an emergency across the entire department.
Field officers must cancel all leave for a period of three months and are now required to conduct field visits on Sundays. Daily reports must now be submitted to the Ministry by the Head of Safety and the Chief Engineers for both Civil and Mechanical divisions.
This emergency status will remain in effect until 31 December 2026.
