Sindh inaugurates first engineered sanitary landfill at Jam Chakro

Sindh has inaugurated its first engineered sanitary landfill at Jam Chakro to manage urban waste. Four planned garbage transfer stations will support the new disposal site.
The Sindh Assembly's Public Accounts Committee recently raised concerns regarding uncollected garbage across Karachi and questioned the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board's operations. Sanitation issues in Karachi often begin before waste reaches disposal areas, as residents in many localities depend on private collectors.
Waste frequently ends up in vacant plots and stormwater drains.
