Federal Minister for Interior Syed Mohsin Naqvi pledged that the central government would provide comprehensive support to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in its efforts to combat terrorism. Naqvi co-chaired a Provincial Apex Committee meeting with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi at the Governor House in Peshawar on 12 October.

The federal administration will offer all possible assistance to reinforce provincial law enforcement agencies and strengthen the capacity of the KP Police and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD). Resources, equipment, and modern weapons will be supplied to the KP Police and other law enforcement bodies to enhance their operational capabilities.

Syed Mohsin Naqvi stated that the security situation in KP had deteriorated over the past 2.5 years because of a lackluster counter terrorism approach by previous elements. "We are on the right path and will succeed," Naqvi said.

No untoward incidents have been reported across the province since the imposition of Governor Rule and Emergency under the constitution, according to Naqvi. Governor Faisal Karim Kundi declared a policy of zero tolerance for terrorism during the session.

Both federal and provincial governments remain united in their resolve to eliminate terrorism using full might. Corps Commander Peshawar, Chief Secretary KP Fakhar-e-Alam Irfan, and Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed attended the meeting.
