Foreign Secretary Asim Iftikhar Ahmad addressed the Foreign Service of Pakistan Day to outline the priorities for national engagement. Ahmad identified emerging technologies, strategic communication, and public diplomacy as the core pillars for the country's international relations.
The secretary called for a shift toward proactive leadership, stating, "We must broaden our diplomatic horizons, embrace innovation and cultivate the ability not merely to respond to change, but to anticipate and shape it." Generations of Pakistani diplomats have served the state with a sense of quiet determination and professionalism, according to Ahmad.
He noted that the legacy of these predecessors serves as a source of strength and inspiration for current officers. Pakistan's increasing geopolitical importance and wider international involvement demonstrate the effectiveness of principled diplomacy.
Ahmad remarked that these successes create a responsibility to find new opportunities while leveraging the talent of younger colleagues and the contributions of women diplomats. Ensuring that Pakistan's interests are advanced and its voice is heard remains a primary objective for the foreign service.
