PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan issued a notification on 24 October to appoint Senator Noorul Haq Qadri as the presiding officer for provincial cabinet meetings. Senator Qadri will lead these sessions while Junaid Akbar, the president of the PTI provincial organisation in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, is away.

General Secretary Ali Asghar of the PTI K-P wing is also tasked with chairing meetings when the senior vice-president is unavailable. Barrister Gohar Ali Khan called on party leaders to cease issuing public statements against each other.

The Chairman also stated that Sohail Afridi remains the party's preferred candidate for the position of chief minister. Internal tensions escalated on 21 October when Ali Amin Gandapur and Secretary General Salman Akram Raja traded criticisms regarding divisions within the party.

Ali Amin Gandapur attributed the issues to "mismanagement and flawed planning". Salman Akram Raja countered by describing the situation as the work of "undemocratic decision-makers".

Authorities declared emergency and governor’s rule on 11 October. A PTI long march towards Islamabad commenced on 4 October.

Police took Sohail Afridi and Junaid Akbar into custody on 4 October. On the same day, police arrested 59 PTI workers in Swabi and 6 workers in the Khyber district.
