The Pakistan Veterinary Medical College (PVMC) has warned students and parents to confirm the approval status of veterinary degree programmes before enrolling in any institution. PVMC confirmed that numerous public and private universities and institutions across Pakistan currently offer courses in Veterinary and Animal Sciences, covering DVM, MSc/MPhil, and PhD levels.
However, the council stated that it has not granted approval for every single programme offered by these educational bodies. Students who complete veterinary qualifications from institutions or programmes lacking PVMC approval might encounter difficulties when seeking registration with the council.
Furthermore, graduates from unapproved programmes risk being unable to obtain registration as a Registered Veterinary Medical Practitioner (RVMP). Without the necessary registration, graduates may also find themselves ineligible for government employment related to veterinary services.
The council published the approval status for DVM, MS/MPhil, and PhD programmes at twenty specific institutions. This published list includes the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore, University of Agriculture Faisalabad, Agriculture University Peshawar, Sindh Agriculture University Tando Jam, Gomal University D.I. Khan, Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi, University of Poonch Rawalakot, and Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences.
Regarding Gomal University, PVMC approved its DVM programme but did not approve its MS/MPhil and PhD programmes. The University of Poonch, Rawalakot, was marked by PVMC as unapproved for DVM, MS/MPhil, and PhD programmes.
PVMC advised students to check the approval status of the precise university, campus, degree, and discipline before proceeding with admission.
