Lin-Manuel Miranda revealed the cast for the Broadway musical Warriors, which features a book, music and lyrics by Miranda and Eisa Davis. The production draws inspiration from Sol Yurick’s 1965 novel and the 1979 Paramount action film of the same name.
Set in New York, the story tracks a fictional gang moving from the Bronx to Coney Island. While the 1979 movie included songs by Arnold McCuller, Joe Walsh and Barry De Vorzon, the new stage show began as a 2024 concept album.
Nas and Mike Elizondo served as producers for the 2024 concept album. Jenny Koons will direct the production, while Tony winner Andy Blankenbuehler will co-direct and handle choreography.
Thomas Kail, Miranda, Luis A. Miranda, Jr. and Jeffrey Seller are listed as producers. Technical roles include David Korins on scenic design, Dede Ayite on costume design, Natasha Katz on lighting design, Jason Crystal on sound design, Hana S. Kim on projection design, Drew Leary on fight direction and Kurt Crowley on music supervision.
Orchestrations for the show were provided by Kurt Crowley, Mike Elizondo and Scott Wasserman.
