Mk2 Films acquired Archipel 35 and a selection of films from Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne. The Paris-based group, mk2 Films, operates under the leadership of Nathanael and Elisha Karmitz.
Frederique Rouault stated that Archipel 35 maintains a strong editorial identity concentrating on matters of society, politics, work, and human relationships. The catalogue now incorporates works from eighteen European and international directors.
The Dardenne brothers previously secured the Palme d’Or for "Rosetta" in 1999 and for "The Child" in 2005. Furthermore, the Dardenne brothers won the Grand Prize for "The Kid With a Bike" in 2011 and received best director recognition for "Young Ahmed" in 2019.
In 2025, the Dardenne brothers returned to competition with "Young Mothers," winning the best screenplay prize. The outfit was responsible for Zvyagintsev’s “Minotaur,” which served as France’s entry for the international feature Oscar.
The film "Two Days, One Night," which competed at Cannes in 2014, earned Marion Cotillard an Oscar nomination for best actress. The 43 films within the catalogue have generated sales of nearly 7,000,000 tickets in France.
Specifically, "The Kid With a Bike" achieved admissions exceeding 800,000. Additionally, "Two Days, One Night" sold more than 520,000 tickets within France.
The acquisition means the catalogue represents one of 11 films presented by mk2 Films at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
